STARCAT
What is STARCAT?
STARCAT is the user interface to the various astronomical databases
maintained at the CADC and at
the ESO/ST-ECF.
To use STARCAT you can either
rlogin -l starcat ac1.hq.eso.org,
(no password required) or register
for an installation of STARCAT on your computer (only
available for SUN's).

The important groups of STARCAT screens are indicated by the trailing
"@groupname" on the complete screen name (e.g. "hr@astrocat"). Some

Once a STARCAT catalog screen is display, the user has access to two groups of functions:
How to obtain catalog records:
- selective retrieval of alphanumeric STARCAT screen data.
- display of the data.
- writing the data to a user-specified file.
- preview
- retrieval of spectra or images
What to do with these records once obtained:
- Preview of associated image or spectra.
- Marking
- Plotting
- Output
