POST_OBS: Observations carried out to date
Contents
Screen name: post-obs
Records: Dynamic
Description
This screen contains all important information about exposures taken by
the Hubble Space Telescope. It relates the information contained in the
exposure table with the ones from the original proposal. This screen is
probably the first one to look at for information about HST exposures.
Fields
Name Table Type Meaning
proposal exp I The proposal_id number.
pi_lname prop A Last name of the Principal investigator
sci_cat prop A science category. Can be any combination
of one or two of the following:
AUG Augmentation time proposal
CAL Instrument calibration proposal
COS COSTAR
DD Director's discretionary
ENG Engineering observation
ERO Early Release Observation (limited proprietary)
GO General Observer proposal
GST Ground System Test proposal
GTO Garanteed Time Observer
OBS ??
OPD ??
OTA Optical Telescope Assembly
OV Orbital verification (now public)
RPT Repetition of a previous proposal
SAT Science Assesment proposal,(now public)
SMC ???
SV Science Verification (limited proprietary period)
WF2 2d generation of the WFPC
instr exp A Instrument name
fgslock exp A Fine Guidance Sensors locking mode.
Can be either COARSE, FINE, GYROS
pub_Xcept dsname I Flag. Set to one if the dataset is
having an exceptional release date.
This date is given by the field pub_date
pub_date dsname D Date after which the dataset will
become available for the general public.
ra_obs exp D The right ascension of the target. This
is required both in the FIXTARG and EXP
relation because the actual target may
differ with the proposed target.
dec_obs exp D The declination of the target. This is
required both in the FIXTARG and EXP
relation because the actual target may
differ with the proposed target.
proposal prop A Proposal title
target exp A The target name.
targcat obs A Target category. The actual target may
differ with the proposed target.
exp_len exp D The exposure time in seconds. This is
not redundant with respect to the next
two fields. The exposure duration should
not include (in principle) dead time for
instrument set up, etc; the difference
dead time for instrument set up.
start exp D The start time of the exposure.
stop exp D The stop time of the exposure.
moving? exp A Flag indicating a moving target. 'T'
if the telescope was moving to follow
the target. 'F' if the telescope was
not moving with respect to the stars.
dataset_name exp A The data set name corresponding to this exposure.
quality pdq A Quality value for the exposure as
determined (rather arbitrarily) by the
ground crew. The possible values are:
OK, POOR, NOISY, UNKNOWN, NO-COUNTS
SATURATED, BLANK-IMAGE, WEAK-COUNTS
WEAK-SIGNAL, DATA-DROPOUTS,NOT-DISPLAYED
qual1 pdq A Quality comment 1
qual2 pdq A Quality comment 2
