HST Fields in detail

aper_id
FOS aperture identification. Values encountered are: A-1, A-3, B-1, B-2, B-3, C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4.

aperobj
Aperture.

camera
Camera used for WF/PC observation. Could be either WF (Wide Field) or PC (planetary Camera).

Dataset Name
The dataset name for this observation, in the format IPPPSSOOT.

Dec_targ
The declination of the target (J2000). Be sure to specify a range, otherwise the system tries an exact match, which is unlikely to succeed.

detector
Detector in use (FOS: AMBER or BLUE; HRS: 1 or 2).

Exp. quality
Quality value for the exposure as determined (rather arbitrarily) by the ground crew. The possible values are:

OK, POOR, NOISY, UNKNOWN, NO-COUNTS, SATURATED, BLANK-IMAGE, WEAK-COUNTS, WEAK-SIGNAL, DATA-DROPOUTS, NOT-DISPLAYED

Exp start
The start time of the exposure (UT).

Exposure
The exposure time in seconds.

filter
Filters used in exposure. This is a string which includes all of the filters in the optical path. In searching for a particular filter a string like *F502N* should be used.

grating
Grating name. The form is either "ECH-A" or "ECH-B", for the HRS echelle gratings, or, for either the HRS or FOS, a string like Gnnn[HML], where nnn is the blaze wavelength in nanometers, and H, M, and L mean respectively high, medium, and low resolution.

GS lock
Fine Guidance Sensors locking mode, which can be COARSE, FINE, GYROS, or UNKNOWN.

Instrument
Instrument name (WFPC/WFPC2,FOC,FOS and HRS.)

ledcolor
FOC LED Color (one of BLUE, RED2, or GREEN2).

maxwave
Maximum wavelength of spectral coverage.

minwave
Minimum wavelength of spectral coverage.

mode
WF/PC mode: FULL (Full integration) or AREA (Area integration).

obsmode
Observation mode. Modes used are:
ACCUM
RAPID
SPYBAL
ACCUMULATION
SPECTROSCOPY
RAPID-READOUT
DIRECT READOUT
SPECTROPOLARIMETRY

optcrly
FOC optical Relay (F48 or F96).

PI Name
Last name of the Principal Investigator.

polar_id
Polarizer ID (FOS).

Proposal Id
The proposal number as allocated by the STScI.

Proposal Title
Title of the Proposal.

pxformt
FOC image format (NORM or ZOOM).

Quality
Quality value for the exposure as determined (rather arbitrarily) by the ground crew.

Ra_targ
The right ascension of the target (J2000). Be sure to specify a range, otherwise the system tries an exact match, which is unlikely to succeed.

Release Date
The date at which the data become public.

shtmode
FOC shutter mode (INBEAM or NOTUSED).

smmmode
FOC spectroscopic mode (INBEAM or NOTUSED).

Status report
Summary of observation status from daily report

Target Category
Scientific category for the target. Entries may be one of the following:
ISM
STAR
STARS
GALAXY
EXT-STAR
EXT-MEDIUM
CALIBRATION
EXT-CLUSTER
SOLAR SYSTEM
UNIDENTIFIED
STELLAR CLUSTER
CLUSTER OF GALAXIES

Target Description
Target description.

Target Name
The target(object) name. Note that target names are defined by the observers according to a soft set of target naming conventions. The liberal use of wildcards is recommended when searching. The match is not case sensitive.

Target Keywords
List of keywords describing the target; too many to enumerate here.
