ESO Online EIS Server Service

Description
The ESO Online EIS Server Service provides access to images and catalogues from the ESO Imaging Survey. See the copyright notices.

By using the ESO Skycat tool it is possible to access the released EIS Catalogs at ESO directly from your computer (without Web browser). It is available for SunOS, Solaris, HPUX and Linux at ftp.archive.eso.org/pub/skycat . If SkyCat is already installed you need to configure it properly to make the EIS catalogs available.

To request EIS data products you have to fill in the register/request form below. Bulk requests for all images of a patch or the coadded catalog(s) will be handled off-line. In this case the filled form will be sent to the ESO Science Archive Group.

Requests for single frames and/or single frame catalogs will be forwarded to the server form after completion of the register/request form below.

Data Request Section

Right now only bulk data can be requested, e.g. all catalogs of a given patch/band combination. Single catalogs or frames can not be requested. You may select any combination in the two select boxes below, but please be aware of the data volume of the image data (> 2000 frames in total). If catalogs are requested please specify the format (ASCII/FITS). You may select your prefered media type as well, but depending on the requested data volume we may propose you another one. The total data volume adds up to about 9 GB, where all the data is compressed using gzip (catalogs) and compress (image data). Images are stored as 16 bit integer data, i.e. if you intend to do data reduction on the images you will require about 35 GB of storage capacity to hold all the data (uncompressed, floating).

Bulk Data: Select a combination of items in both boxes.
You may choose more than one, but please be aware of the size of the datasets. Currently we have a limit of 2GB for any normal request. Requests exceeding this limit will be treated specially (and will take longer). Requests for image data will usually go on tape media, FTP is only an option if catalogs are requested.
Select format
(catalogs only):
