Hi Octavi,

You can load the above file in skycat as a local catalog if you make
a few changes. To see an example of the tab table format, save the
results of a catalog search (GSC, for example) to as file.

* The columns need to be separated by tabs (if they are not already)

* The column headings must be separated from the rows by a dashed line
(at least one "-" on a line by itself)

* The values for RA and DEC must be in H:M:S and D:M:S resp.
(Sorry about this last restriction - I suppose we could make
it smarter, but it is not always clear in every case whether
hours or degrees are meant...)

* The first 3 columns are assumed to be ID, RA, DEC, so you would need
to put the ID column in the first colum. It doesn't matter what
column names you use for RA and DEC, although "ra" and "dec" are
standard, as well as "mag".

Here is an example of the format that you could load (from GSC):

symbol: mag circle 15-$mag
# End config entry

The keywords at the top are optional, but can be used to set the name
of the catalog and plot symbol. See the Skycat FAQ
(http://arch-http.hq.eso.org/skycat/skycat-faq.html) for some more
on this and also http://arch-http.hq.eso.org/skycat/skycat-server.html.

Looking at the skycat catalog config file might also help:
http://archive.eso.org/skycat/skycat.cfg.

We are planning to make some changes soon, so that you can specify
different sizes, symbols and angles to plot based on the catalog
information for each object. If you have any suggestions about
how to improve skycat and the catalog interfaces, please post them to
skycat@eso.org
for discussion.

Thanks,
