OPTICON Network: Future Data Analysis Environment - Useful references

This reference material will help to focus technical discussion as we progress in the project. It complements the information in GeneralDocuments; while in that entry you will find documents, papers, presentations and talks, this one contains additional useful references, including workshops calendar, projects and products, and standards.

  • Finnish in-kind project
  • Globus Project The Globus Project is developing fundamental technologies needed to build computational grids. The Globus Project provides the globus toolkit, an open architecture, open source software toolkit.
  • Radionet is also considering ways to make access to software and pipelines easier within the radio community.
  • ParselTongue is a scripting (and eventually interactive) interface developed by Radionet is also considering ways to make access to software and pipelines for tasks in astronomical data reduction packages (currently AIPS supported).

Standards

Agreed and/or proposed standards to be used within the scope of this project.
  • OGSA Open Grid Software Architecture.
  • FITS The data exchange format.
  • VOTable A proposed XML format for exchange of astronomical tables.
