EIS Catalog Server: Skycat Configuration Guidelines

SkyCat uses a configuration file for the setup of the links to image, catalog and directory servers. The EIS Catalog Server Service consists of a directory server and the actual catalog server. In order to enable SkyCat to see the EIS catalog directory structure you have either to modify your SkyCat configuration file or download a new one.

  • Novice users of SkyCat you should just download a new configuration file and place it under ~/.skycat/skycat.cfg

  • If you already did some work with SkyCat you should probably go and modify your SkyCat configuration file which is located in ~/.skycat/skycat.cfg. Just load it into your prefered text-editor and add the following six lines (including blank lines before and after):
    serv_type: directory
    long_name: EIS Catalogs
    short_name: EIS@eso
    url: http://archive.eso.org:8080/eis/servers/eis_directory

Let us update your config file...

By clicking on the BROWSE button below you may select your existing config file for upload to our server. It will be updated and immediatly sent back to you (you will be asked where to store it).
NOTE: Some browsers do not support file uploading, thus this service will not work, sorry.
