Hardware configuration at the ST-ECF

The hardware configuration for the ST-ECF plate objects extraction is based on a compute and file server and on two satellite display stations.

The object extraction software is written in various languages for the OpenVMS operating system. Data input is taking place using Exabyte tapes received from STScI on a regular basis. Data output consist in writing the extracted objects' data onto DLT which are shipped back to the STScI. Quality control is done with printed support.

The above summarized requirements have generated the following configuration now in place at the ST-ECF.
